Fill your quiet weekdays
Most quiet Tuesdays are not a marketing problem. They are a re-booking problem. The clients who already love your work are the easiest people to put in those chairs, and reaching them costs you almost nothing.
This guide is twelve habits that fill weekday gaps. Each one comes with the words to say and exactly where to click in Aura to make it happen, so you can start today rather than someday.
No invented statistics here. Where we give a number, it is either a setting in Aura or a rough rule of thumb, and we say which.
Your one-week plan
About twenty minutes a day. Each day links to the tips it uses, so you can read as you go.
- Day 1
Find the hours that are really empty.
- Day 2
Start re-booking in the chair, and ask every client for a yes.
Tip 2: Re-book before they leave the chairTip 3: Get a yes to follow up
- Day 3
Read the standard client emails and switch them on.
- Day 4
Write your weekday openings email and send it on Monday morning.
- Day 5
Tell clients about the waitlist and put a line on your booking page.
Tip 6: Let the waitlist catch cancellationsTip 7: Put your weekday message where people book
- Day 6
Set reminders and a cancellation policy, and move one dead block of hours.
Tip 8: Stop gaps before they formTip 9: Reshape the day around real demand
- Day 7
Pick one weekday group to reach, and make sure no call goes unanswered.
Tip 10: Find the people who are free on a TuesdayTip 11: Never miss the call that fills the gap
- Every month
Check your re-book rate and at-risk clients.
Tip 1
Find your real gaps
Before you fix quiet days, find out which hours are actually empty. It is rarely the whole day.
Most studios say Tuesdays are dead, but the real gap is usually narrower: Tuesday before 11, or Wednesday after 3. Knowing the exact hours tells you what to offer, who to offer it to, and which hours to stop opening.
A ten minute spreadsheet check
- Download your appointment history (the steps are below) and open it in Google Sheets or Excel.
- Delete the cancelled rows and any row with no client name. What is left is time that was actually used.
- Add a weekday column. With the When column in A, type =TEXT(DATEVALUE(LEFT(A2,10)),"dddd") and fill it down.
- Add an hour column: =VALUE(MID(A2,12,2)).
- Make a pivot table with weekdays across the top, hours down the side, and a count of appointments in the middle. The smallest numbers are your gaps.

Core planSettings > Your data
Download Appointment history. It is a spreadsheet of every appointment with its date and time, service, status and price.
Bookings > Calendar
Then look at the last four weeks in the Calendar. A 45 minute hole between two clients is a different problem from an empty morning, and the fix is different too.
Good to know
- Aura does not have a slow days report yet, which is why this uses a spreadsheet. You only need to do it once every few months.
Tip 2
Re-book before they leave the chair
The best time to book the next visit is while the client is still happy with this one.
A client who leaves without a next appointment has to remember to book, find a time and get around to it. Plenty of them drift a few weeks late, and some drift to someone else. A client who books in the chair is already on your calendar, and you get to steer them toward the days you want filled.
Skip the question "When would you like to come back?" It has no easy answer, and people default to Friday or Saturday. Offer two specific weekday times instead. A choice between two is easy to answer, and both answers fill a quiet day.
Say this while you finish up
- "Your color will be ready for a refresh in about five weeks. I have Tuesday the 14th at 11 or Wednesday the 15th at 2. Which is better for you?"
- If neither works: "No problem. What does a weekday look like for you, mornings or after work?" Then offer two more.
- If they want to wait: "Totally fine. Can I email you when it is time?" That question is the next tip.
Do it in Aura
Core planBookings > Calendar
While they are still with you, open the Calendar, click the day, and use New Appointment. Pick the service and the time they chose, and save it.
Aura emails the client a confirmation straight away, then reminders before the visit, so the booking does not depend on anyone remembering.
Good to know
- Write down the gap you recommend for each service, for example lash fills every two to three weeks or facials about every four. Then the two times are easy to offer without stopping to think.
Tip 3
Get a yes to follow up
Your automatic re-booking emails only reach clients who agreed to hear from you. Ask every client, once.
Aura's re-booking nudge, the win-back emails, the birthday note and every campaign go only to clients who said yes to marketing email. No answer counts as no. That keeps you on the right side of anti-spam law, and it means a list full of unknowns is a list your follow-ups cannot reach.
Asking is easy when the reason is useful to them.
Ask it like this
- "Can I email you when it is time for your next visit, or when a weekday spot opens up? No spam, and you can stop it any time."
Do it in Aura
Core planBookings > Booking Page
Clients who book online see a box that says "Email me offers and news from" your studio, and their answer is recorded for you.
Clients > Client Directory
When a client says yes in person, open their profile and use Record that they agreed to marketing emails. While you are there, use Add their birthday, because the birthday note needs it.
Settings > Your data
Bringing in a list from another app? Only tick These clients agreed to hear from me by email if they really did.
Good to know
- Booking confirmations and reminders are not marketing, so they go to every client either way.
Tip 4
Turn on the emails that run themselves
Seven follow-up emails come with your account, written in your studio's name. They stay off until you read them and switch them on.
Re-booking by hand works until you get busy. These keep working on the weeks you have no time for marketing, and the ones that ask for a booking stop by themselves when the client books.
These five matter most for quiet weekdays:
A nudge to book the next visit. 28 days after a completed visit, and only if they have not already rebooked.
Reach a client we have not seen. Once a client passes 90 days with no visit, and it stops the moment they book.
After a cancellation. A day after an appointment is cancelled.
After a missed appointment. A couple of hours after you mark an appointment as a no-show.
A birthday note. Three days before a client's birthday, once a year, for clients who agreed to hear from you and whose birthday you have recorded.
Make them about your quiet days
- In the nudge, add one line: "Tuesdays and Wednesdays are the easiest days to get in, and the calmest." It is true, it is useful, and it steers the booking.
- In the birthday note, make the treat a weekday one: "A free brow tidy with any Tuesday or Wednesday visit in your birthday week."

Core planMarketing > Automation Flows
On The standard client emails card, use What they say to read them. If any are missing, add them with the button that says Add to my drafts.
Marketing > Automation Flows
Open each one from its menu to change the words, then choose Turn on.
Good to know
- The nudge, the win-back and the birthday note go only to clients who said yes to marketing. The cancellation and missed appointment notes are about a booking the client made, so they go to everyone.
- The top of that screen tells you whether sending is live for your account. If it says flows do not send, use a campaign (the next tip) in the meantime.
Tip 5
Send a weekday openings email on Monday morning
One short email with real openings, sent at the start of the week, is easy for a client to act on.
People plan their week on Sunday night and Monday morning. An email that arrives then, with specific times in it, can be acted on in a minute: they see the slot, picture it, and book it.
Specific beats general. "Tuesday at 10:30 or 1:00" gives someone something to say yes to. "Book now" does not.
An email you can copy
- Subject: A few calm weekday times this week
- Hi {first name}, we have a few weekday openings this week:
- Tuesday at 10:30 and 1:00. Wednesday at 11:00 and 3:30.
- Weekdays are quieter here, which makes them a lovely time for a longer treatment. Tap below to grab one.
- Button: Book a weekday time
- Rather than a discount, try a weekday extra: a free brow tidy, a hand treatment or ten more minutes of massage with any Tuesday or Wednesday visit. It costs you little, it does not teach clients to wait for sales, and it makes the day feel special instead of cheap.

Core planMarketing > Email Builder
Start a new email and choose who gets it. Haven't visited in a while picks the clients with no visit in the last 60 days and nothing booked, which is a good first audience. Everyone on my list works too.
Marketing > Email Builder
Write it, preview it, then send it. It goes out the moment you press the Send to button, so do this on Monday morning.
Money > Revenue & Finance
Using a code? Make it under Coupons with Create Coupon, give it an end date and a use limit, and put the code in your email.
Good to know
- If you start from a ready-made template, replace the sample button link, address and quotes with your own before you send. They are placeholders.
- The code box shows on your booking page only when you take a deposit or full payment online. If you do not, say "mention this email when you book" and take the offer off at checkout.
- Campaigns only go to clients who agreed to marketing email, and each one carries an unsubscribe link.
Tip 6
Let the waitlist catch cancellations
A cancellation does not have to become an empty chair. Aura offers the time to the people waiting.
Your waitlist is already on. When a day is full, clients on your booking page can join the waitlist for that day. When someone cancels or moves an appointment, Aura emails up to three people waiting for that day, longest waiting first, with a link to book the freed time. The offer lasts 24 hours, and the first person to book gets it.
The more people are waiting, the more often a cancellation turns straight back into a booking.
Tell clients it exists
- "We are full that Saturday, but join the waitlist for it. People move appointments all the time, and you will get an email the moment a spot opens."
Do it in Aura
Core planBookings > Calendar
See who is waiting under the Waitlist view on the Calendar screen.
Clients join from your booking page with Join the waitlist for this day. The AI booking assistant on your page and the AI Front Desk can add people too.
Good to know
- Offers go by email. Someone who joined without an email address is skipped, so call them yourself when a spot opens.
- Record a cancellation in Aura the moment it happens. The waitlist can only offer a time Aura knows is free.
Tip 8
Stop gaps before they form
A no-show makes a weekday gap nobody can fill. A few settings make them rarer.
Clients forget, and a forgotten appointment costs you the time and the chance to give it to someone else. Reminders, a small deposit and a clear cancellation window each give a client a reason to come, or to tell you early while there is still time for the waitlist to fill the spot.
A cancellation line you can put on your page
- "Life happens. If you need to move your appointment, just let us know at least 24 hours ahead so we can offer the time to someone on our waitlist."
Do it in Aura
Core planMoney > Revenue & Finance
Open Payments setup. Under Payment Rules Policy choose to hold a card, take a deposit or take full payment, then set a no-show fee and a free cancel window.
Money > Revenue & Finance
In the same place, check your reminder times under Scheduling & Reminders. Aura sends reminder emails 48, 24 and 3 hours before each visit unless you change them.
Bookings > Calendar
When someone does not turn up, open the appointment and mark it No-Show. That sends the missed appointment email and keeps your numbers honest.
Your booking page already helps: it labels the times that sit right next to an existing appointment as Best fit, so new bookings pack together instead of leaving small holes nobody can use.
Good to know
- Deposits and fees are charged through your own Stripe account, which you connect in Payments setup.
Tip 9
Reshape the day around real demand
If Tuesday morning is empty every week, stop opening it, and open when people can actually come.
An empty block you keep open costs you a morning and fills nobody's chair. Plenty of clients who work office hours would love a weekday appointment at 6 pm. Moving hours from the dead block to the evening can turn a quiet day into a normal one without a single discount.
Simple swaps to try
- Tuesday: open 12 to 8 instead of 9 to 5.
- Wednesday: start at 10 instead of 9, and add one evening slot.
Do it in Aura
Core planBookings > Team Schedule
Change each person's working hours for that day. Your booking page, the AI booking assistant and the AI Front Desk only offer the hours set here.
Good to know
- Change one day at a time and give it four weeks before you judge it. Then run the spreadsheet check from the first tip again.
Tip 10
Find the people who are free on a Tuesday
Your weekday clients already exist. They are just not the same people as your Saturday clients.
Lots of people have free time on weekdays: nurses and other shift workers, restaurant and salon staff on their days off, parents between school drop-off and pickup, people who work from home, retirees and students. Speak to them directly and a weekday becomes their first choice rather than a compromise.
Ideas to pick from
- Standing appointments. Offer regulars a set time, like every fourth Tuesday at 10, and book the next three visits at once so the time is theirs.
- School hours visits. A window between drop-off and pickup for parents, with a promise to finish on time.
- Local partners. Leave cards with a nearby clinic, hospital, gym or coworking space, with a weekday offer for their staff.
- Bring a friend on a weekday. Two side by side appointments on a Wednesday is a good hour for you and a nice outing for them.

Core planBookings > Calendar
Book standing appointments one after another while the client is with you. Each one gets its own confirmation and reminders.
Social > Social Planner
Plan a few posts about your weekday openings, write the captions, and download them to post on your own accounts.
Tip 11
Never miss the call that fills the gap
A call you cannot pick up while you are with a client is often someone who wanted a time this week.
Plenty of people still book by phone, and plenty of them hang up rather than leave a voicemail. The AI Front Desk answers when you cannot, checks your real calendar, offers open times and books the appointment during the call. If the day they want is full, it can put them on your waitlist.
Pick the mode that fits
- Busy days: "Your phones ring first, the AI picks up when nobody can."
- If people tend to call in the evening: "You answer the phones, the AI covers after hours."
Do it in Aura
AI Front Desk add-onClients > AI Front Desk
Under When the AI answers, choose Your phones ring first, the AI picks up when nobody can, or You answer the phones, the AI covers after hours.
Clients > AI Front Desk
Under When someone books by phone, choose whether phone bookings go straight onto the calendar or wait for your approval.
Good to know
- It answers calls that come in. It does not phone clients for you.
Tip 12
Check your numbers once a month
Two numbers tell you whether this is working.
Your re-book rate is the share of your clients who have been in more than once. At-risk clients are the people you have not seen in 60 days or more. When the first goes up and the second goes down, your weekdays take less effort to fill every month.
What good looks like
- A common rule of thumb for salons is a re-book rate of about 45%. It is a rough guide, not a measured figure, so compare yourself mostly with your own last month.

Core planHome
Your Re-book rate is on Home.
Funnels & Journeys > Journey Analytics
For more detail, look at At-Risk Clients and Days Between Visits. If you do not see this screen in the sidebar, choose Show all tools.
Good to know
- The re-book rate counts every client you have ever had, so it moves slowly. Give it a couple of months before you judge a change.
What you need
| Tips | What it takes | Price |
|---|---|---|
| 1 to 10 and 12 | Aura Core | $49 a month |
| 11 | The AI Front Desk add-on, 50 minutes of calls included | $49 a month on top |
Deposits and no-show fees are paid into your own Stripe account. Nothing in this guide needs a website or any other add-on.
